Moldovan Mobile Operator Moldcell Names New General Manager

As of November 1 Gaburici will replace Yusuf Baykan, who will resign to pursue other interests and enjoy further career advancement, Moldcell said in a statement.

Yusuf Baykan had been the company's general manager since 2006. Gaburici, 32, was Moldcell's sales manager before the appointment.

"Chiril Gaburici has played a very important role in company development for more than seven years. We believe that his knowledge of the company and country, strong leadership skills, team builder profile with a strong commercial focus will ensure further successful development of Moldcell on the Moldovan market and within the group," Moldcell said.

The operator, majority owned by Eurasian telecommunications operator Fintur Holdings BV, said its network covered 96% of Moldova's territory and its population in October.

Moldcell, which started operations in Moldova in 2000, has invested $120 million (96 million euro) in development so far and plans to invest $100 million more in the next five years.
