The total premium income of the 27 insurance companies operating in Moldova was down to 381.2 million lei in the first half from 426.5 million lei a year earlier, CNPF said in a statement.
It added that the claims paid by Moldovan insurers rose to 194.2 million lei through June from 123.05 million lei a year earlier.
The combined assets of Moldovan insurers grew by 21% on the year to 1.4 billion lei at the end of June.
Moldasig and ASITO were the country's two largest insurers in terms of first-half premium income.
