Merck Frosst Canada Files Patent Lawsuit against Slovenia’s Krka, Salus

December 5 (SeeNews) - Drug maker Merck Frosst Canada Limited has filed a lawsuit against Slovenian drug maker Krka and drug wholesaler Salus over alleged infringement of patent rights over the ingredient montelukast, seeking 67,917 euro ($87,000) in damages, Krka said on Friday.

Merck Frosst Canada Limited has asked the district court of Ljubljana to ban the two companies from the production, sale and import to Slovenia of drugs that contain montelukast, Krka said in a statement to the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE), where its shares are listed.

Shares in blue chip Krka fell 0.79% to an average price of 52.87 euro on the LJSE on Friday. The company released its statement after the end of trading.
