The two companies will search for natural gas in the Thrace region and for crude oil in the Mediterranean region, Istanbul-based Daily Sabah reported.

Petronas intends to drill for petroleum, natural gas and shale both at sea and on land in Turkey, according to the media.

Earlier this week, Turkish media reported TPAO will jointly carry out oil and gas explorations with Shell Upstream Turkey, the Turkish arm of Anglo-Dutch energy group Shell, in the western Black Sea in 2015.
