SKOPJE (Macedonia), December 27 (SeeNews) – The Macedonian municipality of Sopiste said it is considering the development of a wind park project in cooperation with the Global Environment Facility.

Macedonia’s Sopiste municipality mulls developing wind park project

Initial measurements conducted by the Skopje-based Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) are more optimistic than expected and indicate the site has the potential to host wind turbines, the municipality said in a statement on its website on Wednesday.

A feasibility study for the project will be prepared by FEIT and submitted to potential investors.

Measurement towers supplied by U.S.-based NRG Systems were installed by Serbia’s Netinvest in August, 2012.

The municipality provided no details about the indicative value of the potential investment in its statement.

Sopiste is located in northern Macedonia, near the capital of Skopje.
