The plant, located near the capital Skopje, has a production capacity of 35 tonnes per day, the ministry said in a statement published on its website, quoting farm minister Ljupco Dimovski who attended the opening ceremony over the weekend.
Its construction was co-financed with a 9.5 million euro loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The plant has opened 50 new jobs, as by the time it reaches full capacity another 200 workers will be hired. Pekabesko currently employs 310.
Pekabesko explorts its products to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo.
Pekabesko (www.pekabesko.com.mk), established in 1972 as a state-owned company, was fully privatised in 1991.
