Macedonia's govt survives no-confidence vote - media

Parliament rejected the no-confidence motion with 68 votes against and 42 in favour late on Friday evening, MIA (www.mia.com.mk) reported.

The no-confidence motion was filed by the largest opposition party, the left-wing Social Democratic Alliance of Macedonia, SDSM, led by former president Branko Crvenkovski, which accused the government of stirring interethnic tension.

The main coalition partner of the governing party VMRO-DPMNE is the ethnic Albanian party DUI.

About a quarter of Macedonia's population of over two million are ethnic Albanians.
