Macedonian tobacco co Strumica Tabak 9-mo net profit plunges

November 13 (SeeNews) - Macedonian tobacco company Strumica Tabak said its net profit plunged to 18.3 million denars ($381,490/297,560 euro) in the first nine months of 2012 from 89.2 million denars a year earlier.

Operating income rose 16% to 891.4 million denars in the first nine months, while operating costs increased 25% to 853.2 million denars, the company said in a financial statement sent to Macedonia’s Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company said that 99% of its total income came from the sales on foreign markets.

Strumica Tabak, set up in 1991, had 378 employees at the end of 2011.
