SKOPJE (Macedonia), October 29 (SeeNews) – Macedonia's Agency for Electronic Communications (AEC) received no bids in a tender for the award of a 15 million euro ($19.4 million) licence for the use of frequencies to build high-speed fourth generation mobile telephone networks, its spokesman said on Monday.

AEC spokesman Marjan Pejovski declined to provide further details when approached for comment over the phone by SeeNews.

The deadline for submitting bids in the tender that was called in September expired on October 24.

Local daily Vecer (www.vecer.com.mk) last week quoted AEC director Robert Ordanoski as saying that the telecom regulator will call a new tender after discussing the price of the licence with the three mobile operators operating in the country.

The three wireless carriers that operate in Macedonia are Magyar Telekom’s T-Mobile Makedonija, ONE, part of Telekom Slovenije, and Telekom Austria’s Vip Operator.
