SKOPJE (Macedonia), September 10 (SeeNews) – Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski has rejected the resignation offered by Transport Minister Mile Janakieski over the deadly boat accident in the Ohrid Lake that killed 15 Bulgarian tourists last weekend, state-run news agency MIA reported late on Wednesday.
Gruevski has decided not to accept the resignation, taking into account the facts backed by experts’ opinion that fail to point to Janakieski's accountability, MIA (www.mia.com.mk) quoted government officials as saying.
The government spokesman was not immediately available to provide details. Gruevski is currently in China to attend the World Economic Forum in Dalian.
Janakieski on Saturday proposed to step down for moral reasons over the deadly accident. Forty-two Bulgarian tourists were rescued from the Ilinden boat that sank with 57 people aboard. The boat manufactured in 1924 has been registered to carry only 43 passengers, MIA said earlier.
A detailed investigation of the reasons for the accident is underway.
