December 29 (SeeNews) - The insurance companies operating in Macedonia reported a combined premium income of 4.399 billion denars ($103.1 million/71.5 million euro) in the first nine months of 2009, down from 4.652 billion denars a year earlier, the Finance Ministry said on Tuesday.
Non-life insurance premiums totaled 4.204 billion denars through September and life insurance premiums accounted for the remainder, the Finance Ministry, which serves as financial regulator said on its website.
The Macedonian insurers reported a combined premium income of 6.421 billion denars in 2008, up from 6.109 billion denars in 2007.
Thirteen insurers operate in the Balkan country of two million people.
