Macedonian insurers 2011 gross written premiums rise 5.0%

SKOPJE (Macedonia), September 12 (SeeNews) – Macedonian insurance companies posted combined gross written premiums of 6.8 billion denars ($141 million/110 million euro) in 2011, up from 6.5 billion denars a year earlier, central bank data indicated.

Macedonian insurers 2011 gross written premiums rise 5.0%

Non-life insurance premiums accounted for 92.7% of the total insurance premiums in 2011, while life insurance segment accounted for the remainder, the National Bank of Macedonia (NBRM) said in its annual overview of the country's financial system.

Fifteen insurance companies operate in Macedonia, a country of 2.0 million, including four that are active on the life insurance segment.
