Macedonia sees 2.6% rise in domestic energy needs in 2013 – econ min

SKOPJE (Macedonia), December 6 (SeeNews) – Macedonia's electricity needs will increase by 2.6% to 9,028 gigawatt hours (GWh) next year, the economy ministry said.

Domestic electricity production would cover 76.5% of the projected total, while the remaining 23.5% would be covered by imports, the economy ministry said on its website.

Electricity generation in 2013 is expected to rise by 7.4% from this year to 6,907 gigawatt hours, of which thermal power plants would produce 72%.

Macedonia plans to import 2,121 GWh electricity in 2013, 10.5% down from 2012.
