Macedonia plans to pay 700 mln euro in farming subsidies in next five yrs

SKOPJE (Macedonia), October 15 (SeeNews) – The Macedonian government said it plans to pay a total of 700 million euro ($908 million) in farming subsidies in the next five years.

The aid for the farming sector will be focused on rural development and infrastructure as well as on stimulating output quality and productivity, the government said in a statement on Friday, quoting deputy prime minister Vladimir Pesevski.

The Macedonian government plans to pay 130 million euro in subsidies to the farming sector in 2012, up from the 115 million euro paid a year earlier, it said in a separate statement.
