VECER

- German utility group RWE is the most serious candidate to win a deal for the construction of hydro power plants Cebren and Galiste in Macedonia, Macedonian Economy Minister Fatmir Besimi said. He added that the Ministry will take into account the request by the companies that showed interest in the pre-qualification tender for an extension in the timeframe for the launch of a tender for the hydro power plants.

- Faulty power and gas installations are to blame for the fire that broke out early on Wednesday at the St. Jovan Bigorski monastery, in western Macedonia, according to initial reports. The fire started in the kitchen area and spread to the dining room and the library. The damages are estimated at 5.5 million euro, the National Conservation Center said.

- The Macedonian Science and Arts Academy has decided to recall and make corrections in the Macedonian Encyclopedia that has sparked outrage among ethnic Albanians in the country, who claim their community was portrayed in a negative historical context in the publication.
