- Slovenia said it has proposed to the EU Council that Schengen visa regime for Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro be abolished as of December 19, 2009 instead of January 1, 2010 as proposed by the European Commission.

- Skopje-based European Business Association (EBA) said Macedonia needs faster harmonization of its laws with the EU legislation to facilitate the operations of the country’s export-oriented companies.
