- Ethnic Albanians in Macedonia will become radicalized if the country fails to find a compromise in its name dispute with its southern neighbor Greece by December 7, said Rafiz Aliti, a spokesman of ethnic Albanian political party DUI, which is part of the coalition government led by Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.
- The Macedonian government on Thursday will discuss the draft budget for 2010, with budget deficit expected to be set at 2.5% of the gross domestic product (GDP), lower than the 2.8% gap in this year’s budget.

- Smoking in public places will be completely banned in Macedonia as of January 1. Owners of restaurants and cafeteria said they will be hit hardest due to the expected drop in the number of their clients.
