Macedonia, Kosovo sign EU-funded agreement for cross-border cooperation

The IPA 2011 cross-border programme between Macedonia and Kosovo is designed to promote good neighbourly relations, stability and security and to encourage harmonious, balanced and sustainable development, the Macedonian government said in a statement.

Potential beneficiaries of the programme are non-profit making organisations, local and regional authorities, associations, foundations and chambers of commerce, the office of the EU delegation in Skopje said in a separate statement on Friday.

The EU has earmarked over 25 million euro for the period 2007-2013, aimed for funding projects in five cross-border programmes between Macedonia and Greece, Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria as well as the members states that are participating in the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme, the EU delegation said.
