Macedonia H1 budget gap widens 4.1%

SKOPJE (Macedonia), October 3 (SeeNews) – Macedonia’s consolidated budget deficit widened 4.1% in the first half of 2012 and was equivalent to 1.7% of the gross domestic product (GDP) projected for the year, the finance ministry said.

The six-month deficit totalled 8.05 billion denars ($169 million/131 million euro), up from 7.73 billion denars a year ago, the finance ministry said in a report posted on its website.

In the January-June period, budget revenues totalled 66.9 billion denars, down 0.8% from a year earlier, while expenditures amounted to 74.98 billion denars, down 0.3% on the year.

Macedonia targets a budget deficit equivalent to 2.5% of GDP in 2012, flat on the year.
