Lumiwings suspends all flights from Bosnia's Tuzla - report

The air carrier is suspending flights to Stockholm, Esbjerg, Halmstad, Maastricht and Saarbrucken, news provider Klix reported on Monday.

In addition, the carrier will not launch flights to Istanbul on March 5, as previously announced by the government of Tuzla canton.

In December, Lumiwings received a 2.5 million marka ($1.4 million/1.3 million euro) subsidy from the government of Tuzla canton to launch the flights, but the funds have already been used to compensate for losses due to low plane occupancy, according to the report.

Lumiwing was selected as the winner in a public call for the introduction of new flights to Tuzla.

Passenger numbers at Tuzla airport came in at 582,336 in 2023, up from 466,596 a year earlier.

Tuzla airport is one of Bosnia's four international airports. The others are situated in Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka.

The Tuzla canton is one of ten cantons making up the Federation, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other entity is the Serb Republic.
