The new logistics centre, to be located on the outskirts of the Serbian capital, will span 51.55 hectares, the Belgrade city government said in a detailed zoning plan for the project. The value of the investment was not disclosed.

The discount chain opened its first stores in Serbia in October 2018 and currently has 64 stores in the country. It also has two logistics centres - one in Nova Pazova and a second one in Lapovo.

Lidl, part of Germany's Schwarz Group, has more than 12,000 stores in 32 countries.
