October 19 (SeeNews) - German discount retail chain Lidl said it officially opened on Friday a new regional distribution centre in Iernut, in the central county of Mures.
The logistics facility, with a staff of 150, will supply 57 Lidl stores in the northwestern part of Romania, the company said in a statement.
The facility was put into operation on September 1.
Lidl has a further two distribution centres in the country, both in the south - one near Ploiesti and one near the capital, Bucharest. Together the three centres will serve a total of 148 Lidl stores in Romania.
Lidl is part of Germany's Schwarz Group which also operates the Kaufland retail chain in Romania.
