The project aims to introduce smart solutions to boost energy efficiency, improve traffic and waste management, and digitise local governance.
The initiative’s total value amounts to 550,000 euro ($597,000) and will be co-financed by the central and local governments, the ministry said in a press release last week.
The pilot project could serve as a model for other municipalities in Kosovo, encouraging them to implement similar smart solutions using advanced technologies, minister Artane Rizvanolli stated.
The initiative involves the adoption of new technologies based on the Internet of Things (IoT), a network of interconnected physical devices embedded with sensors and software that collect and exchange data over the internet to automate and optimise processes.
