PRISTINA (Kosovo), November 15 (SeeNews) – Kosovo's insurance companies posted a net loss of 0.8 million euro ($0.9 million) in the nine months through September, compared to a net profit of 2.1 million euro a year earlier, central bank figures showed on Friday.
Kosovo insurers' gross written premiums increased to 74.0 million euro in the January - September period from 69.1 million euro a year earlier, according to monthly data published by the central bank.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance totalled 71.4 million, up from 66.9 million euro, while life insurance premiums increased to 2.6 million euro from 2.2 million euro.
Total gross claims paid increased to 37.9 million euro from 31.5 million euro in the like period a year earlier.
The assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to 196.1 million euro as at the end of September, from 181.0 million euro a year earlier.
The figures comprise data for 13 insurance companies operating in Kosovo, down from 14 companies in 2018.
