February 7 (SeeNews) - German embedded computing technology (ECT) developer Kontron has won a 10 million euro ($11 million) contract to deliver and install a railway global system for mobile communications (GSM-R) on the second track of the Divaca-Koper railway line in Slovenia, the company said.

Kontron will install 11 base stations at six locations, 40 repeaters of base stations at 22 locations, cabling of antenna and radiation cables and power cables of base stations and repeaters at locations outside the technical premises, supply of measuring equipment, instruments and spare parts and integration into the existing GSM-R radio subsystem (BSS) and core network (NSS), the company said in a statement on Monday.

The company won a tender for the service called by state-run project company 2TDK and should complete the installation by the end of 2025, Kontron said.

In addition to the actual delivery, installation, final testing and commissioning, the scope of work also includes the design of the project for implementation for special systems that are linked to the supplied technology and the preparation of the documentation of the performed works, the company added.

The project for the construction of a second track on Divaca-Koper railway line is an integral part of the pan-European transport network and represents a modern connection of the Koper port to both the Slovenian and the European railway network. The line holds significant importance as a transport artery between Koper port and its hinterland, facilitating the transit of about 60% of the goods routed through the port.
