May 24 (SeeNews) - Italian development bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) will provide a 100 million euro ($108.4 million) financing package to Serbia's state-owned energy producer Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) to support the country's decarbonisation, EPS said on Friday.

The initiative aims to bolster renewable energy use, enhance energy sector security, and promote sustainability, supporting Serbia's plans for renewable energy expansion and carbon reduction by 2050, EPS said in a press release.

This cooperation was announced during the second Italy-Serbia Business Forum.

In February, CDP opened an office in Serbia to coordinate its activities in the Western Balkans.
