For comparison, Serbian IT market in 2011 stood at 410 million euro, declining by 24.8% from its peak of 545 million euro in 2008, according to a survey of local market researcher Mineco Computers.

Software development is a field in which Serbia can compete on the world market, Serbian trade and telecommunications minister, Rasim Ljajic, said at the presentation on Monday of the new banking software of IT company Asseco SEE, a unit of Polish Asseco.

Serbia invests 60 euro per capita in the IT field, an amount that is more than what neighboring Bosnia, Montenegro and Macedonia invest in the same industry, but significantly less than Croatia's 200 euro, Ljajic noted adding that economic development of a country is proportional to its investments in the IT industry.
