BIG MEGA Renewable Energy's CEO Eran Davidi paid a three-day visit to Serbia, meeting officials from the regional chamber of commerce of the Nisava, Pirot and Toplica districts, as well as representatives of local electricity distribution and construction companies, PKS said in a statement earlier this week.

BIG MEGA Renewable Energy, a joint venture between real estate firms BIG Shopping Centers and MEGA OR Holdings, has a track record in neighbouring countries and already operates rooftop solar panel projects in Novi Sad, in northern Serbia.

BIG Shopping Centers, through its Dutch-based subsidiary BIG CEE, operates 15 shopping centres – 13 in Serbia and two in neighbouring Montenegro. In Serbia, it runs nine retail parks branded as BIG, two shopping centres branded as BIG Fashion, and the country's only designer outlet, branded as BIG Fashion Outlet.

In November, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) extended a 100 million euro ($109 million) loan to BIG CEE to finance the development, upgrade and acquisitions of modern retail parks and shopping centres in Serbia and the Western Balkans.
