IMF anticipates a 2.5% expansion in Slovenia's gross domestic product (GDP) for the upcoming year, it said in the April 2024 edition of its World Economic Outlook report published on Tuesday.

In 2023, the country's economy expanded by 1.6%, the IMF said.

The Fund projects that consumer price inflation in Slovenia will average 2.7% in 2023, marking a slowdown from the 7.4% recorded last year. Average inflation is seen at 2.0% in 2025.

Slovenia is expected to swing to a current account surplus of 2.7% of GDP this year from a surplus of 4.5% in 2023, while in 2025 the current account surplus is expected to reach 2.1% of GDP, according to the report.

The unemployment rate is expected to stand at 3.7% in 2024, the same as last year.
