IMF cuts N. Macedonia's 2024 GDP growth f'cast to 2.7%

April 17 (SeeNews) - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said it anticipates a 2.7% expansion in North Macedonia's economy for this year, a downward adjustment from its previous forecast of 3.2% growth stated in October.

North Macedonia's economic growth is projected to accelerate to 3.7% in 2025, the IMF said in the April edition of its World Economic Outlook report on Tuesday.

The country's economy is estimated to have grown 1% in 2023.

Average consumer price inflation is forecast at 4% in 2024 and 2.5% in 2025, compared to 9.4% last year, the IMF said.

North Macedonia's current account gap is projected at 0.8% in 2024 and 2.7% in 2025.

The IMF expects that the economy of the Emerging and Developing Europe area will expand by 3.1% in 2024, after growing by 3.2% in 2023.
