IMF affirms Kosovo’s 2019 GDP growth forecast at 4.2%

PRISTINA (Kosovo), October 16 (SeeNews) – Kosovo's economy will expand by 4.2% in 2019, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said, affirming its forecast made in April.

Kosovo's gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to grow by 4.0% in 2020 and 2024 each, the IMF said in its October 2019 World Economic Outlook report published on Tuesday.

Kosovo's economy expanded by an estimated 3.8% in 2018, according to the report.

The Fund expects Kosovo's annual average consumer price inflation to slow to 1.6% in 2019, from 2.9% in 2018. The average inflation is forecast at 1.7% in 2020.

Kosovo's current account deficit is projected to fall to 6.5% of GDP in 2019, from 8.0% in 2018, the IMF said. The current account deficit is forecast at 6.6% and 7.2% of GDP in 2020 and 2024, respectively.
