Hungary's Wizz Air To Launch New Flights from Romania to Three Italian Cities

November 24 (SeeNews) - Hungarian no-frills carrier Wizz Air said on Tuesday it will launch flights from Romania's capital Bucharest and from the cities of Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara to the Italian cities of Cuneo, Forli Bologna and Pisa, in the first half of 2010.

The company will operate the route from the Romanian western city of Timisoara to Forli Bologna in northern Italy twice a week starting from March 29, it said in a statement.

It will fly from the capital Bucharest and from the northwestern city of Cluj-Napoca to the Italian central city of Pisa three times a week from June 12 of 2010. It also will start to operate the route from Cluj-Napoca to the southwestern Italian city of Cuneo on June 12.

The company will add one new Airbus 320 aircraft to its fleet at the airport in Cluj-Napoca in the summer of 2010, it said.

Wizz Air also said it transported 1.4 million passengers to and from Romania in January-October this year, up by 85% on the year.

The carrier said earlier it sees its passenger traffic doubling this year to 1.7 million.

Wizz Air fleet comprises of 26 Airbus 320 aircraft, which operate from six countries – Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Ukraine. Its fleet in Romania consists of six aircraft.
