Germany's Huf opens tech lab in Romania's Timisoara

The lab is now Huf's largest testing and validation centre within its global network, the company said in a press release on Tuesday.

Huf targets a net sales figure of 2 billion euro ($2.12 billion) by 2031 and its Romanian arm will play a pivotal role in reaching this target, according to Bogdan Nuna, chief technology officer at Huf.

"With the new [lab] we establish the largest centre of testing and validation in the global Huf network of competence centres. It will serve all five Huf sites in Europe – Portugal, Spain, Poland, Germany and Romania," Nuna added.

The centre spans 1,700 sq m and and is equipped with facilities for testing and validating a wide range of automotive components, including car door handles and various types of keys.

Huf entered Romania in 2006 and besides the newly opened technical centre laboratory it also owns a research and development (R&D) centre in Timisoara and a manufacturing facility in the western city of Arad. It employed 811 people in the country at end-2022, according to data from the finance ministry's website.
