The solar plants are located in the village of Dalgo Pole near Bulgaria's second-largest city of Plovdiv and have an output of about 91 MWp and 50 MWp, respectively, adding to an existing 66 MWp plant there, SENS said in a statement.
The three projects were completed for Bulgaria's Galaxy Investment Group, with SENS LSG serving as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services provider.
The JV built the first solar park in Dalgo Pole in 2022 and began construction on the second project at the end of the same year. The three photovoltaic parks comprise more than 330,000 solar modules and will collectively produce over 280,000 MWh of electricity annually, SENS said.
They will also save some 40,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, corresponding to the average annual consumption of about 6,000 Bulgarians.
"At the moment, there is considerable activity in the Bulgarian and other Eastern European markets. With the completion of two more solar parks, we are reaffirming our commitment to Bulgaria's energy transition and sending an important signal for the future of renewable energy in the country," SENS CEO Andre Kremer said.
Bulgaria plans to significantly expand its use of renewable energy, including solar power, to meet the EU's climate change objectives. The country intends to install 7 GW of new solar capacity by 2030, with an additional 12 GW planned by 2050.
