October 23 (SeeNews) - The government of Bosnia’s Serb Republic and U.S.-based diversified group General Electric on Thursday signed a cooperation protocol which paves the way for future investments in infrastructure, energy, railway transport and healthcare, the Bosnian Serb Republic's public broadcaster RTRS reported.
As long as there is an opportunity for investment, we will make that investment, RTRS quoted the CEO of General Electric International, Ferdinando Beccalli-Falco, as saying after he signed the protocol with the Serb Republic Prime Minister Milorad Dodik.
The Serb Republic is one of the two autonomous parts of war-divided Bosnia. The other is the Muslim-Croat Federation.
Bosnian media reported earlier this week that the value of the planned contracts would be 400 million euro ($514 million). GE was interested in taking part in the modernisation of the Serb Republic’s railways, in energy projects, and in supplying aircraft to the region’s air carrier Sky Srpska and equipment to its healthcare facilities, daily newspaper Nezavisne Novine reported on Tuesday.
