Foreign tourist arrivals to Slovenia surge in Jan-Nov

December 27 (SeeNews) - A total of 3,750,477 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the eleven months through November, up from only 1,832,466 in the like period of last year, the state statistical office said, citing provisional data.

Overnight stays by foreign tourists more than doubled to 9,641,914 in the January-November period of 2022 from 4,794,935 in the eleven months of 2021, the statistical office said in a statement.

The number of domestic tourists fell by 7.2% to 1,818,212, taking the total number of tourists to 5,568,689, up 50.2% compared to January-November 2021.

Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 5,209,599 in the first eleven months of 2022, down 11.9% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period grew to 14,851,513 from 11,251,378.

In November alone, 138,879 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 91.2% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists surged 110.8% to 360,695.

In November, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Austria and Italy, accounting for 13.0% and 12.4% of the total, respectively, followed by Croatia with 10.6%.
