Foreign tourist arrivals to Slovenia soar in Jan-July

August 30 (SeeNews) - A total of 2,029,796 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the seven months through July, up from only 601,873 in the like period of last year, the state statistical office said, citing provisional data.

Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 49% on the year to 3,498,162 in the January-July period, the statistical office said in a statement.

The number of domestic tourists rose by 69.8% to 1,255,207, taking the total number of tourists to 3,285,003, up 144.8% compared to January-July 2021.

Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 3,498,162 in the first seven months of 2022, up 49.0% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period jumped to 8,688,538 from 3,965,978.

In July alone, 766,860 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 88.2% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists rose 91.2% to 1,995,290.

In July, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Germany and Czechia, accounting for 17.4% and 10.5% of the total, respectively, followed by the Netherlands with 10.1%.
