Foreign tourist arrivals to Slovenia rise 14.9% y/y in Q1

May 8 (SeeNews) - A total of 580,976 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the first quarter of 2024, up 14.9% year-on-year, the state statistical office said, citing provisional data.

Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 11.1% on the year to 1,459,848 in January-March, the statistical office said in a statement on Monday.

The number of domestic tourists fell by 0.9% to 328,109, taking the total number of tourists to 909,085, up 8.6% compared to January-March 2023.

Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 958,678 in the first three months of 2024, down 1.6% on the year. The total number of tourist overnights in the review period totalled 2,418,526, up 5.7%.

In March alone, 228,294 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 38% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists grew by 33.1% to 537,564.

In March, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Italy, accounting for 14.0% of the total, followed by Austria with 13.8%.
