BELGRADE (Serbia), October 1 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited Serbia in August went up 4.7% on the year to 237,801, statistical office data showed.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourists in Serbia decreased by 1.2% year-on-year, to 490,339 in August, according to data posted on the website of Serbia's statistical office.
In the first eight months of 2019, the total number of foreign tourist arrivals rose 4.9% year-on-year to 1,208,500, while the total number of overnights spent by foreign tourists added 5.2% to 2,638,528.
China was Serbia's biggest feeder market in August, with 18,376 tourists, up 53.9% on the year. Turkish citizens followed, up 15.1% to 17,826. Visitors from Germany came third, up 4.4% to 15,965.
The number of domestic tourists increased by 8.5% on the year to 210,509 in August, taking the total number of tourists to 448,310, up 6.4%.
