Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia up 41% y/y in May

July 7 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia totalled 1.37 million in May, an increase of 40.7% compared to the same month of last year, the statistical office said on Friday.

The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia rose by 35.2% on the year, to 5.0 million in May, the statistical office said in a monthly report.

Local tourist arrivals fell 1.6% on the year to 250,792, and the number of overnights by local tourists went up 0.9% to 568,273 in May.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia reached 15.3 million last year, up 44% compared to 2021.

Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
