March 13 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia totalled 117,858 in January, an increase of 2.9% compared to the same month of 2023, the statistical office said on Wednesday.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia fell 1.6% on the year, to 343,183 in January, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
Local tourist arrivals decreased 0.8% on the year to 113,329, and the number of overnights by local tourists went down 0.7% to 251,190 in January.
Foreign tourist arrivals to the Adriatic country rose 10% on the year to 16.855 million in 2023, the same statistical office has said earlier.
Tourism is a key industry for the economy of the Adriatic country, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
