Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia rise 10% in 2023

February 8 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia totalled 16.855 million last year, an increase of 10% compared to 2022, the statistical office said on Thursday.

The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia rose 9.4% on the year, to 84.264 million in 2023, the statistical office said in a monthly report.

Local tourist arrivals increased 7.6% on the year to 2.639 million, and the number of overnights by local tourists went up 4.7% to 8.113 million in 2023.

Alone in December, Croatia attracted 228,290 foreign tourists, up 17.5% on the year. The number of overnights of foreign tourist increased 9.4% on the year to 536,361.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia reached 15.3 million in 2022, up 44% compared to 2021, according to figures released earlier by the statistical office office.

Tourism is a key industry for the economy of the Adriatic country, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
