Foreign tourist arrivals to Bosnia rise 16.7% y/y in Jan-Aug

October 9 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Bosnia in the first eight months of 2017 grew 16.7% on the year, reaching 128,846, according to official data from the country's statistical office.

The total number of tourists staying in the country in the first eight months of 2017 increased by 14.1% year-on-year to 160,932, data posted on the website of Bosnia's Agency for Statistics showed.

Total tourist overnights in January-August increased to 372,102, up 11.6% year-on-year. Of them, foreign tourist overnights accounted for 79.6%, or 296,299, up 13.7% on the year.

Visitors from the United Arab Emirates accounted for 8.5% of foreign tourist overnights in the first eight months of 2017, followed by visitors from Saudi Arabia with a 8.1% share, and from Italy with 7.4%.

In 2016, the number of foreign tourists who visited Bosnia grew by 15% year-on-year, reaching 776,889, while overall tourist visits increased by 12% to 1.15 million.
