Foreign tourist arrivals in Bulgaria rise 6.0% y/y in June-July - econ min

September 20 (SeeNews) - A total of 2.13 million foreign tourists visited Bulgaria in June-July, 6.0% more than in the same two-month period last year, the economy ministry said on Thursday.

In June alone, Bulgaria’s revenue from foreign tourists increased by 8.5% on the year to 373.75 million euro ($484.13 million), the ministry quoted energy minister Delyan Dobrev as saying in a statement.

In 2012, Bulgaria expects 6.0% to 8.0% growth in foreign tourist arrivals with the number of visitors from Russia alone expected to rise 20%.

Tourism services generate 15% of Bulgaria's gross domestic product, according to economy ministry data.
