November 27 (SeeNews) - The Romanian unit of online food delivery platform foodpanda said on Friday it plans to expand its geographical coverage to 60 cities by the end of 2021.
This year, foodpanda Romania has added 19 new cities to its network, taking the total number to 36, the company said in a press release.
Foodpanda Romania plans to expand to the cities of Tulcea and Giurgiu by the end of the year.
"We believe that the trend of online orders will continue and we see a lot of potential in smaller cities, where there is a huge appetite for our services. Therefore, we plan that, by the end of 2021, Romanians from over 60 cities in the country will be able to enjoy the experience of ordering through foodpanda", foodpanda Romania managing director Andreea Petrisor said.
Since the beginning of 2020, 4,000 new restaurants were listed on the platform and 3,000 couriers were added to the fleet. In the last six months, amid the pandemic and accelerated expansion on the local market, the number of orders on the foodpanda platform doubled compared to the same period of last year.
foodpanda Romania is part of Germany-based Delivery Hero Group which operates in more than 40 markets.
