The restaurant, spanning 80 sq m, is located inside the Shopping City mall in the southern city of Ramnicu Valcea and employs 30 staff, Hesburger said in a press release.

"We decided to enter the Romanian market after a thorough analysis of the local market and we believe in the development potential here. We have a solid experience of expansion in the region, especially in the Baltic countries and in Bulgaria. We are currently in discussions for new locations in different cities in Romania, including Bucharest," said Ieva Salmela, international development and marketing director at Hesburger.

Salmela added that the company plans to invest more than 8 million euro to open 10 new restaurants within its first year of operation in Romania.

With a history of over 50 years, Hesburger currently runs operations in nine countries, employing over 8,700 people in more than 470 locations.
