FDI inflow into N. Macedonia up 86% y/y in Q1

May 31 (SeeNews) - Foreign direct investment (FDI) into North Macedonia totalled 290.2 million euro ($314.6 million) in the first quarter of 2024, compared to a net inflow of 156.09 million euro in the like period of 2023, central bank data showed on Friday.

Reinvestment of earnings made up the bulk of total direct investments into the country, as the net inflow of this component totalled 134.9 million euro in the first quarter of the year, according to central bank data.

Investments in equity came in at 98.9 million euro and intercompany lending totalled 56.4 million euro in the first quarter.

In March alone, FDI into North Macedonia amounted to 134.66 million euro, as compared to an FDI inflow of 63.97 million euro in March 2023.

In 2023, FDI into North Macedonia totalled 616.7 million euro, down from 745 million euro in 2022.
