FDI inflow into N. Macedonia down 17% y/y in 2023

February 29 (SeeNews) - Foreign direct investment (FDI) into North Macedonia totalled 616.7 million euro ($668.4 million) last year, compared to a net inflow of 745 million euro in 2022, central bank data showed on Thursday.

FDI inflow into N. Macedonia down 17% y/y in 2023

In the fourth quarter of 2023 alone, the country registered a net FDI inflow of 232.59 million euro, as compared to an FDI inflow of 240.35 million euro in the like period of 2022, central bank data showed.

Investments in equity made up the bulk of total direct investments into the country in 2023, as the net inflow of this component totalled 274.8 million euro.

Reinvestment of earnings came in at 172.9 million euro and intercompany lending totalled 169.1 million euro last year.
