October 8 (SeeNews) - Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Croatia totalled a preliminary 913 million euro ($1.3 billion) in the first half of 2009, the central bank said, giving no comparative figures.
FDI in Croatia fell by 22.4% on the year to a preliminary 1.83 billion euro in the first half of 2008, Raiffeisenbank Austria Zagreb reported in October last year.
Austria was the largest single foreign investor in Croatia in the first six months of this year, with investments worth 619.9 million euro, the central bank said on its website.
Croatia's financial intermediation industry, excluding insurance and pension funds, attracted the biggest chunk of FDI over the review period, of around 579.4 million euro.
FDI in Croatia fell by 20% to 2.930 billion euro in 2008.
