The postponement will aim to ensure that the census is properly prepared and that unreliable results and statistics are avoided, Renzo Daviddi, charge d'affaires of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia told reporters, as quoted in a statement by the office on Wednesday.
The EU’s interest and involvement in the census is related particularly to the European integration process. In this context, the EU committed almost 4.5 million euro ($6.0 million) to provide the equipment needed for the census, as well as technical assistance and the international monitoring operation, it added.
Bosnia is split into two autonomous entities, the Muslim-Croat Federation and the Serb Republic, both united by a central government.
